Successful graduates of UCP Marjon masters programmes with ITESO now work as teachers and researchers in the Mexican Higher Education context, and in teacher education, consultancy and publishing contexts.
- Knowledge and Understanding All participants demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the essential processes of education, with a particular focus on curriculum design, typically in a particular area of professional interest, teaching and learning and the processes of assessment and evaluation.
- Practical Skills Participants acquire and apply research and investigation skills appropriate to educational contexts as well as programme and instructional materials design skills. Students are able to deal with complex or uncertain issues, and make judgements. These transferable skills are also useful in noneducational settings, thus enhancing the candidates’ career options.
- Intellectual (Thinking) Skills Candidates integrate theory and practice in their professional work, and conceptualise the complex relationships that exist between them. They analyse and synthesise information from a variety of sources, particularly empirically derived data, and generate solutions to professional problems.
- Key Life Skills Participants demonstrate the skills to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to a range of professional and non-professional audiences. They refine their skills of cooperation, collaboration and leadership, enabling them to contribute effectively to teams of professionals. The course fosters a spirit of critical inquiry and the development of professional autonomy and problem-solving skills.
Graduates of the MA in TESOL may also apply to join the UCP Marjon PhD programme, offered in conjunction with the University of Exeter, or the PhD programme in Education at ITESO University.
